Easter Week 2010

The days that lead up to Easter Sunday are a special time for Christians. In addition to our usual Sunday worship services, we offer two additional opportunities:

Holy Thursday (April 1) –

On the night before he was crucified, Jesus ate the Passover meal with his disciples on what we now call “Holy” or “Maundy” Thursday. It was on this night that he instituted the Lord’s Supper.

In similar fashion, we’ll eat together tonight in the fellowship hall at 6:30. A meat and cheese tray will be provided; you’re invited to bring a salad, side dish or dessert to share, along with your own table service.

Following the meal, our praise team will lead us in an informal time of singing, making use of both contemporary and traditional music. Our time together will close with the observance of Holy Communion.

Good Friday (April 2) –

Good Friday is the day we remember and meditate upon the crucifixion of our Savior, Jesus Christ. This year, our worship will take the form of a Tenebrae service (Latin for darkness) and will begin at 7:30 p.m. This service, which dates back to the twelfth century, is characterized by a progressive extinguishing of candles as the passion account is read. The Chancel Choir will participate in tonight’s worship.

Easter Sunday (April 4) –

This is the grandest and greatest Sunday of the year! The pastor and our talented musicians are gearing up to make both services (9:45 & 11:00) a glorious experience. Pastor Jim’s message will be entitled “Come Alive This Easter!” based on John 14:19 (Message translation) -- “In just a little while the world will no longer see me, but you're going to see me. Because  I am alive and you're about to come alive” We encourage you to invite a friend to join you this morning.
